5 Days After, Mr. Hope Uzodimma Still Holds Hon. Heclus Okoro In Detention AT HIS PLEASURE!

The Imo State PDP New Media Director, Mr. Ambrose Nwaogwugwu, have lamented the continued detention of the Imo State lawmaker, representing Ohaji Egbema Local Government, at the orders of Senator Hope Uzodinma.

The lawmaker, Hon. Hercules Okoro, was alleged to have attacked his colleagues in company of thugs, at the Imo Government House, while expressing his displeasure at the removal of the Imo State Speaker, Chiji Collins.

Nwaogwugwu made his displeasure known on his Facebook handle and it reads as follows;

I have been advised to ‘allow the dead to bury themselves’ but as an avowed follower of Achebe’s activistic models, my conscience had reminded me of our unwritten credo which guards us, in whatever we do; that is — the moral obligation to always align ourselves with the powerless.

You see?

That is why our most foremost Igbo proverb could never have been wrong when we were counseled by the Sages to always pursue that fowl that uses it legs to scatter shits because no one knows who would eat its legs.

When we cried about the draconian law that was passed by Chiji Collins led rubber stamp IMHA(now axed) which empowers the governor totalitarian power to detain people he does like their faces at HIS PLEASURE people like Hon. Heclus Okoro feigned ignorance and maintained their conspicuous silence.

When I was being unlawfully incarcerated by the Supreme Court Governor for advocating for the suffering Imo people; some of the Aides of Hon. Heclus Okoro who were arrested with him since Friday (till this Tuesday morning I am writing this) were justifying my incarceration with all manner of alibis.

You see?

Ụwa nkea sef!

I am making this advocacy because of posterity and that is why a Lutheran Pastor by name – Martin Niemoller advised for ‘eternal vigilance by all’ because it could be you tomorrow.

We were admonished to always fight for the right courses not necessarily because of those involved.

There is one thing with power despots: when empowered with excessive power emboldened by our inactivity and inactions, they will one day surely come for you when there is no longer any other person to come for.

That is why you must ALWAYS speak up for injustice irrespective of who is involved. You may not like the face of that person but you owe it as an eternal obligation to speak up because we were also told by the Sages that ‘he that is crying for a dead person is also crying for himself.’

We must rise up in unity in defending the right courses, injustice and arbitrary use of power to witch-hunt opponents……

Don’t say it doesn’t concern you…

Don’t say it is ‘their affairs’….

Don’t say it has nothing to do with you….

Don’t say it is not your party thing….

Don’t say he is not a member of your party…

First they came for Nwaogwugwu
And I did not speak out
Because Nwaogwugwu was not your party member.

First they came for the Communists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Communist

Then they came for the Socialists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Socialist

Then they came for the trade unionists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a trade unionist

Then they came for the Jews
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Jew

Then they came for me
And there was no one left
To speak out for me!
