Imo Newspapers Editors Tackle Senator Onyewuchi Over Lopsided Representation

Editors of Imo state based Newspapers, have accused Senator Ezenwa Onyewuchi, who represents Owerri Zone at the senate, of lopsided representation of his people.

The Editors under the aegis of Forum Of Imo Based Newspaper Editors, FINE, in a statement in Owerri, signed by its Chairman and Secretary, Mr. Chinedu Egere and Chigozie Uzosike, said Senator Onyewuchi, has used his empowerment programmes for Owerri zone to settle his political loyalists to the detriment of the people of Owerri zone.

The Editors stated that “Our attention was drawn by some of his constituents, over his empowerment programmme which they allege, is tailored to favour and benefit his friends, associates, political god fathers and mothers, political allies, party chieftains particularly within Owerri North, Owerri Municipal and Owerri West local governments, the three local governments which he had represented at the House of Representatives for eight years.

“FINE was informed that other local governments such as Aboh Mbaise, Ahiazu Mbaise, Ezinihitte Mbaise, Ngor Okpala, Ikeduru and Mbaitoli LGAs, which he also represents at the senate, have benefited little or nothing from the Senator’s lopsided representation”

The Forum also faulted the Senator’s employment recruitment programmes, stating that the benefactors are the Senator’s political allies or members of his PDP.

“This Forum was informed that most of the beneficiaries of the Senator’s employment recruitment programme, are either relatives of the Senator’s political allies or members of his political party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. Most qualified graduates from Owerri zone, who are not members of his PDP, and not from his Owerri Federal Constituency enclave, are not favoured by the Senator in his recruitment process.

“The Senator has consistently brandished his numerous projects at very fora. FINE implores him to showcase these projects to the media. And we offer to embark on an assessment tour of these projects in Owerri zone, to ascertain their existence and functionality, to douse growing suspicion that some of our legislators showcase “internet projects”
