Ihedioha may lose Imo PDP 2023 Ticket if Onyewuchi gets the Owerri Senate ticket

By Chinonye Iwuala

There have been no clear indication, as to the direction political future of Senator Samuel Anyanwu SamDaddy, would take in 2023, but there are strong indications, that the Ikeduru born politician, may seek to return to the Senate.

However, political observers are if the view, that if Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha, should back Senator Ezenwa Onyewuchi again for the Owerri Senate ticket, there may be a repeat of the 2019 battle at the primaries, between him and Anyanwu.

Observers also believe, that a rematch between both heavyweights, may not have the same outcome as it had in 2019 with Ihedioha emerging victorious.

Senator Samuel Anyanwu and Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha, supposedly got into the ring against each other in 2019, when Ihedioha supposedly brought out Ezenwa Onyewuchi, to take away the Senate ticket from Anyanwu.

Angered by the development, Anyanwu was said to have decided to fight Ihedioha for the Governorship ticket, even though he would have conveniently defeated Onyewuchi, had he contested for the ticket with him.

Anyanwu probably wanted to test his might against Ihedioha, and show the former Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, that he had what it took to defeat Ihedioha, who practically owed the Imo State PDP, as he has remained the party’s major sponsor.

Anyanwu almost succeeded, and many of his followers, including himself, believed he did, as he even slugged it out up to the Supreme Court, but was unable to secure victory.

In 2023, the game might change in his favour, as he is supposed to have the backing of the Rivers State Govenror, Nyesom Wike.

Should Ihedioha back Ezenwa again against Anyanwu, there is bound to be a more fierce repeat of 2019 in Imo PDP and this time around, Ihedioha may run the risk of losing the party’s ticket.
