The two warring political heavyweights in Okigwe, Senator Ifeanyi Araraume and former Govenror of Imo State, Dr. Ikedi Ohakim may have finally agreed to bury the hatchet and mend fences, as Ohakim today 6th of February 2021, attended the Traditional wedding ceremony of Senator Ifeanyi Araraume’s daughter, at Araraume’s country home at Isiebu, in Isiala Mbano.
Ohakim and Araraume had been daggers drawn politically, and even socially for years, with each person, undermining the political future of the other.
During his time as Govenror of Imo State, Araraume made the seat very uncomfortable for Ohakim, and his efforts at discrediting the Ohakim administration, were part of the reasons Ohakim lost his seat in 2011.
Since then, both men have been at opposing sides politically, as they seemed to be flexing muscles to determine who was more dominate politically in Okigwe.
Many political watchers and analysts in Okigwe, have blamed the political instability in Okigwe, ok both men, who are from Isiala Mbano and whose houses are very close to each other.
Both men have been accused of undermining Okigwe entirely, due to their private war, which has cost Okigwe a lot, including the Govenroship seat.
Political analysts have always believed, that if both men had joined forces long ago, instead of fighting each other, they would have moved Okigwe forward in the state.
With Ohakim’s presence at Araraume’s daughter’s wedding, many believe that both men may have finally decided to give peace a chance and mend fences.
